Water disappearing when trying to place it with my custom item

I am creating a mod called "Mobs and More" and one of the mobs it adds is a piranha and I made it do you can pick it up in a bucket, and i am planning to do this for future mobs too. But i am having a very frustrating problem...  when i right-click a block the piranha comes out fine, but the water gets placed for a tick or so then it disappears, I tried removing the air where the block is being placed but that didn't work, and i tried using still water but that didn't work.
