MCreator is the most advanced and complex software to create mods, data packs, add-ons and plugins currently. This is not an easy task to mix a user-friendly interface and advanced code generation. MCreator will never be able to replace everything you can code yourself. It always wanted to be something to help to create mods and give a tool to achieve this goal. MCreator improves with each new update, but it takes a lot of time to be able to make a very good software generating code without using a single line of code. If you really want to create your mods without limitations, coding it yourself will always be the best solution, but for the moment, I think MCreator does an excellent job for beginners. Finally, if you don't like MCreator, don't use it and try to make your own software.
MCreator gives extremely huge amount of possibilities, and of course, it contains limitations, but that's exactly what you can expect from any "mod creator". It's exactly the same situation like using engine - it makes your life easier, but you have less freedom on how much you can create. The choice what you prefer is yours.
And while this forum can be indeed silent with many technical topics (which is a shame), I found many solutions by myself, by searching or just sitting and thinking how to work the problem around. You can still find some people helping you with procedures, though, it just needs a bit of luck and kindness.
There's different thing in exchange: even if not most helpful, people on MCreator are wholesome like no other community. Like, maybe I'm not used to many large communities or so, but I feel so kind warmth coming from all people here, testing, giving feedback and trying to be helpful. It is what makes MCreator so strong, even if broadly it's not recognised so.
I have two words for you LEARN PROCEDURES
Probably Jetbrains or Eclipse. I'll let other people argue which is better
although we all know it's jetbrains
