I don't think this would be possible to implement so don't get your hopes up, but I agree it would be pretty nice.
Maybe it would be possible if someone starts developing plugin, as with 1.12.2 version. But even 1.7.10 version has no plugin, and 1.12.2 one is abandoned, so I doubt if there is anyone wanting to develop plugin for such specific version being beta.
But of course it's not completely impossible, even us can do something with it in the end ^^
I would most likely copy my workspace for this version if there was such a plugin
You can try to find out about this, maybe it will help you create a plugin for Beta 1.7.3
