I think ive had this problem too

if you use blockbench you should check that the textures don't collide with the texture boxes of other parts

(remember sometimes faces such as torso top aren't used so they have no texture but the box is still used so you can't use it for other parts.)

another solution is to use a separate version of the same armor texture for each armor part so you're sure only the necessary textures are used and don't affect the other armor parts

MCreator and Blockbench Armor Tutorial for MC - YouTube

This should help with your UV boxes and pivot point issues.

Remember when making your model that all your UV boxes need to be in the top left corner. This is alot easier but is somewhat of a pain if you want lots of colors. This method is easy for me cause I rather not count tiny boxes and try to get it UV boxes just right.
