How to shrink model without shrinking texture size.

I want to reduce the size of my T-Rex model to make a baby version, which I'm able to do, until I want to texture it. I want to use the same texture as the adult, to save time. But It changed the dimensions of the model as I shrunk it, so the texture no longer fits. I know I'm able to choose different resolutions when creating the texture for the baby T-Rex, but none of them match the adult. There must be some simple solution to this I haven't found yet.
