Hi, welcome to my mod. This is a mod that slightly changes how enchantment tables work in Minecraft. Before, you would put in an item and get enchantments related to that item, but now, you get an extra slot to put items in to get enchantments relevant to certain weapons/tools/armor, and are able to change the enchantment level with lapis.
Here is the forum, because it won't let me attach it in the area I'm meant to: https://mcreator.net/forum/120970/jeris-enchanting-redesign
Main Changes:
Players can no longer put in weapons/tools/armor into a slot, but instead you need to put in a book. After the book, you place in any item from the following list to get your desired enchantment:
- Prismarine Shard/Crystal - Trident Enchantments + others related in some way to ocean monuments
- Spider Eye/Fermented Spider Eye - Bane of Arthropods
- Diamonds - Enchantments related to tools and swords
- Smithing Template - Mainly armor protection, includes knockback
- Fire Charge/Magma Cream - Fire related enchantments
- Raw Fish - Enchantments related to water and the ocean
- Feather/Phantom Membrane - Feather Falling
- Gunpowder/Nether Star - Blast Protection
- Arrow (standard, not tipped) - Enchantments relevant to bows and crossbows
- Rotten Flesh - Smite
All should also include unbreaking, if I did it correctly
How lapis works:
The level of your enchantment depends on how much lapis you put in the third slot. Putting in more lapis than the highest level enchantment in the enchantments pool will still only give you those enchantments.
EX: Putting in 7 lapis for efficiency 5 will still give you efficiency 5, and you won't get any enchantment that doesn't also go to level 5. To get a lower level enchantment like knockback 2, you must put in 2 lapis lazuli along with the appropriate item.
Experience:
The experience cap still exists. You need at least 10 levels to get level 1 enchantments, 20 levels to get level 2 enchantments, and 30 levels to get higher level enchantments. The amount of XP levels removed after enchanting is however many lapis you have (up to 5) multiplied by 2. This is an attempt to keep the balance, while leaving enough XP left over to apply your enchantments in an anvil. I will tweak this if I or others feel that it is too harsh.
Bookshelves:
I am a novice to this, so as of now the enchantment table only works if there is at least 1 bookshelf near it in a 6 by 6 range. I'm unsure how to calculate how many bookshelves there are in this range.
Planned Features:
- Enchantery has a feature where if you put a book in a chiseled bookshelf near the enchantment table, that enchantment will be added to the pool, and I want to add that as well.
- Curses
Instructional video:
- V1.0.0: Uploaded the mod.
- V1.0.1: Fixed enchantments showing when not all slots are filled
- V1.0.2: Fixed thorns being able to appear when using prismarine and 4 lapis
- V1.1.0 Added a config to the mod to change what items you can use to get certain enchantments. To find the config, type in "/config showfile jeris_enchantment_overhaul COMMON" and open the file. Everything should be laid out for you in the file. If you change it to something invalid, you'll get an error in the gui text field pointing you to where it originated
