Mod changelog:
- Ash now uses a blockstate system, which should be generally more predictable and consistent. When falling ash blocks merge they now convert to the type, (flaming or normal), of ash they merge with.
- Water bottles now convert flaming ash to normal ash.
- Fire now has an age property that determines how many blocks it has traveled from an initial source. This property carries through fire and flaming ash, and prevents fires from spreading indefinitely. The MaximumFiredistance gamerule determines at what age level fires will now longer spread.
- Fires produced by flaming mobs will now only spread a couple of blocks.
- Removed natural moss spread mechanics, as they interfered with other mods involving stone.
- Creeper moss explosions now convert prismarine and tuff to mossy prismarine and tuff if Bits and Bobs is installed.
- Creepers no longer explode when lit on fire if MobGriefing is disabled.
- Flowering Grass can now be crafted using grass blocks and soul sand.
- Ash no longer blocks light. This should help address visual glitches on the sides of adjacent ash blocks, and also means monsters can no longer spawn in ash during the daytime.
- Fixed bug in which axe right clicking would damage an axe as if stripping regardless of target block.
- Saplings still generate rooted dirt, but no longer generate large roots when bonemealed.
- All tree seeds can now be planted in mud.
- Water bottles can now convert ashy grass back to dirt, in addition to lowering the level of ash blocks.
- Fire is now 3 times more likely to convert materials to charred variants if there is another flammable block above them. (This should make trees and walls far more likely to become charred.)
- Updated all the charred wood textures to have a darker gray hue. (In order to contrast with the recently announced pale wood set…)
- Flaming arrows now set fires with ⅓ the spread distance of fires set by flint and steel. (For balancing reasons…)
- Growth speed of flowering grass can now be controlled using the plantGrowthSpeed gamerule. It defaults to slightly slower than in previous updates.
- Hoes and shears can now be used to remove moss from mossy blocks. This property has also been extended to mossy tuff and prismarine from Bits and Bobs.
- All full charred blocks can now be crafted into two charcoal when mined with silk touch, making them a more efficient source of charcoal than smelting.
- Using flint and steel on a block already on fire causes the fire to immediately spread.
- Fixed bug which caused rooted dirt to burn indefinitely. (instead of converting to regular dirt.)
- Replaced flint and tinder’s properties with the vanilla flint and steel. Legacy items should update accordingly.
- Added the easyPortals gamerule, which determines whether flint and steel can light nether portals. (Otherwise, a fire charge must be obtained from a Griefer or a ruined portal.)
- Glow Lichen is now correctly ignored by fire.
- Any non-undead mobs that die while on fire now turn into a pile of ash when killed. (Because, uh, why not?)
- Ash and Flowering Grass no longer cause an arm swing when right clicked without a tool.
- Netherite armor no longer prevents ash damage. (However, the Fire Protection enchantment still does. Ash also no longer deals damage during rain.)
- Ash bucket placement should work a bit more consistently.
- Ash now gives darkness instead of blindness. (For compatibility with Polytone, which doesn’t handle blindness fog great…)
