Ranged Projectile Damage Consistency

Hey all! In my mod I have several items that fire unique projectiles which vary in speed. I've noticed that, since damage is calculated by speed, as the projectiles (which have anti0gravity) slow down over time, they do less damage. Is there any way to get around this, maybe keep their speed consistent? thank you!
