how to make a mob scared of a block

I kinda need help making mobs scared of a block i would do the simple solution of just having an entity in the block but due to the fact im gonna have a LOT of this block entity isnt an option cause then massive lag

so basically how do i make a mob scared of a block (similar to how hoglins are scared of warped fungus)
