Help with making shelf fungi plant generate

I'm looking to make it so the shelf fungi plant that I've created can only generate on the side of blocks, more specifically logs. I've already created it so it can only be placed on the side of a block, but I'm having trouble with it generating. I've been trying to add it to my modded tree feature but haven't figured it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
