Item with Initial Variable.

Hello, guys. I need some help in creating mod. I want to make item, which giving to player first time he creating the world (It should be a spacesuit or something like). When it first time in my inventory, the custom variable "charge" should be 100.00. How can I do this? Should I use NBT-tags or something like?
