Im trying to make an item but this happens

So I'm trying to make an item where if it's in your inventory you are poisoned unless you also have a special item i.e. a wooden log, but when I'm holding the wooden log, it says "Couldn't Take any effects from Player299 because they do not have any." and I know why this happens I just don't know how to fix it.
