Help with Curing Zombie Villagers

I'm having issues with figuring out... I want an item to start the Zombie Villager curing process, shaking and all, and retain all its tags (trades and whatnot) but also by directly right-clicking on the entity with the item. The best I've been able to figure out is right-clicking the ground with the item and making a Villager spawn in the same spot as the Zombie, only to despawn the zombie. Please offer any assistance, I'm still a bit of a novice! ^^;
