Gui Input Text Box Initial Text Value Not Visible In Game

I am trying to make some text that can be selected but no matter what I put as the initial text in the text input box options when I make a GUI, nothing shows in the box while in game. Specifically, I have a user type something in using a different GUI and save that to a global variable. I want the user to be able to open this other GUI and copy out what was typed from a textbox since you can't select a text label. Could anyone tell me why whatever I put in the initial text is not displayed?
