pc slowing down to a crawl

mcreator has been working fine up till now. for no appearent reason, my mcafee scranner service goes off whenever i start mcreator now, using basically 100% of processing power while it is opened, making my pc grab onto dear life. i dont know what could have caused this but this makes me unable to keep working on my mod. any suggestions as to what to do now? any help is appreciated
