Will it be possible to Replace animations instead of hard coding them?

Hello, I was wondering if the Dev team is working/thinking of a way to change default animations instead of hard coding them, like you can do in bedrock. A way to replace the sword swing, walk, eat, animations like that, but in java minecraft?
