Is it possible to change a mod from a version to an older version (1.19.0 to 1.16.0)

Is it possible to change a mod from a version to an older version (1.19.0 to 1.16.0)

I tried to download an older version of mcreator and then change the version as you would when downloading a new version just backwards, but that didn't work..
