trying to make a hammer that smelts broken blocks

so i have been recently making a new mod adding hammers, but i want also to add custom abilities, i know how to do so for all of them... except the iron one, the iron hammer's ability would be to automatically smelt broken blocks, but i have no idea how i can do it, any help appreciated

EDIT: this is related to my Hammered mod, which adds more hammers
