This is a feature I’ve wanted for a few years now. I was inspired by the legend of Zelda breath of the wild to make a mod with an expansive amount of shields, swords, bows, armors and more, with different abilities, durability and weaknesses. Here’s how I see this happening:
First page: enter shield name, description, etc. the only two new options are to import models for the standby and in-use models of the shield. Since apparently Minecraft used two shield models.
Second page: enter durability, item for repair, sound on projectile hit, sound on melee hit. Protection angle (determines the angle range of the shield. Like a large shield protecting you in a 180 degree range)
Page 3: shield stun time (determines how long the shield stays down after being stunned) shield weakness (melee attacks, projectiles, Fire, etc) (shields take more damage from their weaknesses)
im sure there’s many ways to improve upon this, but I’ll leave that up to you devs and community members. This is just how I’d like to see it.
They already are planned for future updates :)
They are postponed for now as they require player render tweaking.
