Creating a flying, Rideable mob

I am trying to work on creating a custom mob that listens to what keys are being pressed then getting the hight of the mob and moving it upwards several blocks, I would also like to know how I could stop the mob falling when the player is on it's back and it is in the air. I am using the code editor of a rideable mob. Any help would be appreciated but it would make my day if you explained what the different parts did as i am not a java coder i just manipulate code and merge code from several different places.

Thanks in advance,

Shadow

So this is interesting... this is about 2 months old and it still hasn't gotten any comments, I will just do this to maybe get another pass by bringing it to the top of the list again.

i made a pretty quick tutorial about it, and you don't have to code in Java as you can kinda do it w/ procedures. feel free to check it out on my profile
