either one or two things: you mob doesn't spawn due to low weight or it was restricted by certain locations, if it's not that, then search the code that cause the bug and fixed it.
Can you /summon them in game and with eggs?
They work with eggs, yes.
I'm having the same issue I think I might know the issue on my end though, every single time i set an entity to a mob it doesn't spawn even if I switch back to creature even though I set the spawn type to creature. If that's the case it should definitely be fixed since mobs should be able to still spawn on the surface as long as their spawn type is creature.
I have sort of the same issue. Every time i try to spawn a mob it turns out to be some kind of mess. I NEED HELP! I checked everything that could possibly cause it. Is it something to do with MCreator's mod maker? Is it a bug?

Creature = Spawn During Day
Mob = Spawn During Night.
im having the same issue, and ItzaBoiMyth, that didnt help me, it doesnt work at all
