Topic category: Help with MCreator software
So I just now downloaded the new version of Mcreator, since I previously didn't know it had come out yet. However, my computer doesn't want me to run it since it claims it could put my computer to risk. Is this normal?
Also, it claims it doesn't know what publisher it is from, which is kind of weird.
Don’t worry, MCreator is safe. Norton/Your computer is just saying that because it is a .exe file. It is totally safe, no matter how many times Norton yells at you (it does it a lot).
So basically it’s safe a long as you only download it from THIS site.
Alright, thanks for the advice. Helps a lot; also helps to know that in the future :D
Also, yes I did obviously download it off of this site ;)
However, not all .exe files are safe though.
Yep, there's that too :D
This is because the installer has no code signing certificate
It cost the project owner money and because it's free software it doesn't have it because cost
Normally you can check the MD5 or SHA1 checksums from the exe and compare it to the one on the projects website but mcreator does not have these listed I believe..
Ok. This makes sense. Thanks!
:D
