projectiles for mobs

i wanted to make new wither type mob, which shoots wither skulls but than i noticed.... that's not possible

so my idea was to be able to give them actual projectiles instead of items.

or add a custom model with texture and use procedures(for instance: when entity shoots, when projectile hits block, when projectile hits mob/player, ect.)

and be able to change  power, damage, knockback values

well...... i hope this is going to be a thing (it would be usefull)

I strongly agree with you, i was planing to make a space war mod out of all the drawings i made when i was about six (wich i have re-drawn into more detailed and neat drawings), so for the tanks and space jets i would most certainly need this feature.

It still doesn't work for me. the mob just doesn't fire projectiles, even though i gave a ranged item to it

Did you set the mob to use the ranged item and did you check the checkbox on the ai page, or did you just have the mob holding the ranged item?  Because if you did the first two things then I have no idea why it wouldn't work.
