Block gets destroyed underwater

I am currently trying to recreate Kelp in MCreator for 1.12.2. I am aware that waterklipping isn't a thing in this version of the game.
When I place my Kelp Block underwater it gets immediately destroyed.
Right now the block is completly solid, but with a cross model.

Any help and Ideas would be appreciated.

Is it a plant type or a block type? And What is the material it is made out of?

yeah, there's a kelp material. if you want to make custom kelp, you should probably use a block instead, and let entities pass through.

For anyone visiting this Thread, I have since abandoned the idea of recreating kelp.
