How do I export an animation I made so I can use it as a creative tab icon?

I am making a mod, and thought it would be cool to make the creative tab animated. so I went to "Create Animated Texture" under the tools tab. Which brings me to now. I can't seem to export it as just the animation and not a still frame or animation strip. I am kind of at a loss of what to do from here. I'll include some pictures.
