Mcreator stopped working and deleted my workspace
Mon, 08/24/2020 - 19:59 (edited)

I must've done something it didn't like, because mcreator proceeded to self destruct. It stays open, but there is no window. It won't close. It won't force quit. It won't even get ejected. It is very broken. Please help.

EDIT: I have got up and started working when my entire workspace vanished. I had solved the previous issue, as the mcreator window reappeared and announced it had finished refactoring my workspace. It was late, so with relief, I closed my computer and left. When I reopened the workspace however, all the elements disappeared. Vanished. I still had the textures, models, structures, and guis, but the elements tab was empty. This is really sad, as I had 236 elements and I definitely do not want to remake them. I cannot attach logs, as I am still uneducated in the ways of obtaining them, mostly because everything is either for windows, uninformative, or outdated. Any help would be appreciated.

Please help.

And how? We have no log, no information about plugins you have installed, no idea of your MCreator version and you want our help.  I think there are a few things you have missed. So, before asking for help, give details, please.

I am so sorry. Please forgive me. I have resolved the issue, besides, I have no idea how to get ahold of mcreator logs. Turns out, it was refactoring my workspace to save some changes I had made. No big deal.

This video is outdated and also for windows. I am a Mac user. The worded instructions only say  "attach your game logs from the terminal" which I haven't the foggiest clue how to do. As for the console logs, here you go:

Executing Gradle task: build

Hope this helps, as I have just woken up to my workspace disappearing through my fingertips. All 236 elements. Gone.

This video is outdated and also for windows.

This video applies to 2020.4 too, which is the latest vesion and not outdated therefore.

insert literal gibberish that I can't copy something along the lines of 6589op521sd23aw

Logs belong on pastebin or similar and link to here, do not ommit logs

Hope this helps, as I have just woken up to my workspace disappearing through my fingertips. All 236 elements. Gone.

Workspaces can get corrupted if they are being written to while the computer crashes or MCreator is unexpectedly closed or some external program interferes with write operation.

To restore your workspace, go to <workspace folder>/.mcreator/workspaceBackups/. In this folder, backups of the workspace file are stored. Pick a backup from a date before the crash and replace your <workspace folder>/<modid>.mcreator file with one of the backups. Make sure to rename the backup to the same name as the original workspace file.

Occacionally full bacups are made in <workspace folder>/.mcreator/ too in ZIP format.

It may not be outdated enough to be useless, but it is still for windows. As for the backups, thank you man you are a lifesaver.

The gibberish is simply my file location and therefore is most likely not helpful. Anyways, thank you for your time.
