MCCreator 1.7.3 Fix

Hello everyone,

i have a change made to MCCreator 1.7.3. I have it fixed.

This are the steps I made:

1. Go into your MCCreator 1.7.3 Folder and then into forge/gradle/wrapper/

2. Open the gradle-wrapper.properties with a text editor

3. Go to distributionURL=https\://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-2.0-bin.zip

4. Change it to distributionURL=https\://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-3.0-bin.zip

sorry to bump an old thread but my god this was such a simple fix thank you so much. It's a shame that pylo is so ignorant towards the communities surrounding 1.7/1.8 because this is a large portion of the minecraft player base. Thank you so much.

"Large portion of the community", more like most toxic portion of the community that only cares about PvP.

I think in the early days of minecraft the files for the game were downloaded from this amazon Servers. Microsoft or Mojang changed this behavior, the files I are now downloaded directly from minecraft.net.

You could start minecraft 1.7.10 and you should enable the log window in the launcher. In this log window are the Download URLs for 1.7.10.jar. Maybe you can See them only if you run 1.7.10 for First time.

Another idea is to grab the 1.7.10.jar from the ».minecraft/versions«  folder and copy this into the folder of MCCreator 1.7.3.

Maybe this could help

We are not toxic, nor do we care about PvP. Combat was better after 1.9. You are the toxic one, leaving unhelpful comments like that.

If given the chance, everyone would love to continously support 1.8, but it's been deprecated, by Mojang, by Forge, by everyone but the community that still eats on it. the libraries they use dont even work no more on newer computers (GLFW breaks on macOS, etc etc)

All of the new features that are being added into mcreator now either didn't exist back in 1.8, or were implemented so differently that it would be impossible to recreate. Plus its an open source project, there is no chance that a couple people can support 3 versions at once, each with completely different code gen.

You can still get someone to write a plugin for you

However, this plugin will not work on the newest MCreator versions because MCreator uses Java 16 since 2021.3 and on Java 17 since 2022.1, which both are incompatible with Minecraft and Forge 1.7/1.8 as they use Java 7. To be able to use everything inside MCreator (including the test client and server), you need to use a version of MCreator made with Java 8 (2021.1 and lower).

Note: My English is not very good, but I'm going to create a basic tutorial for those who want to fix the error in MCCreator.

1: Go to the folder you extracted from McCreator and navigate to: /forge/gradle/wrapper Open the file: gradle-wrapper.properties

Where it says: "distributionUrl= <link>", you should edit it to: distributionUrl=https://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-4.4.1-bin.zip

2: Go to the folder you extracted from McCreator, and navigate to: /forge/gradle Open the file: build.gradle

Where it says: buildscript You should edit it to:

//gradleCopy code

buildscript {
   repositories {
       mavenCentral()
       maven {
           name = "forge"
           url = "https://maven.minecraftforge.net/"
       }
       maven {
           name = "sonatype"
           url = "https://oss.sonatype.org/content/repositories/snapshots/"
       }
       maven {
           url = "https://repo1.maven.org/maven2/"
       }
       dependencies {
           // Requires Gradle 4+
           classpath('com.anatawa12.forge:ForgeGradle:1.2-1.0.+') {
               changing = true
           }
       }
   }
}

After this, simply open McCreator again, and it will be working.
