Planet Earth is a mod that aims to bring attention to global warming through very cool game mechanics that give an additional objective throughout the game: Live without impacting the earth very much and keep your carbon footprint to a minimum.

Basically, anything that would impact global warming in any way in the real world. For example, lighting fires, using crude oil, killing an animal, and cutting down trees would raise a counter at the bottom of your screen next to your Hotbar, and once that counter reaches a certain amount, it will raise the water level by one. You can also use a command: /setwaterlevel to change the amount on the counter. Every 1000 that the amount goes up by, it raises the water level.

To use the windmills you have to place all blocks involved in the correct order and right-click on the bottom block. You can click the 'Reenergize' button and while there is a battery in the slot, it will reenergize the battery and you can use that battery on refueling the car, motorcycle, or plane. The cool thing about electricity is that it doesn't raise your carbon level! The oil pump can be placed two blocks above a crude oil source block and when it is placed, it will start gathering energy from it. Once you gain 100 energy from the pump, you can click the button and it will dispense a Jerry can and you can use that to refuel the vehicles, but it releases a large amount of carbon. The solar panel is just like windmills except it supplies a smaller amount of energy.

Vehicles require fuel. You can either use energized batteries or use Jerry cans to fuel them. You just shift and right-click on the vehicle to open the refueling screen where you can put the item in the slot and press refuel.
