Topic category: Feature requests and ideas for MCreator
So. A while ago we had the idea on MCreator 2, where it added loads of new features and changed the version format, MCreator 1.8.0 changed that you get 2 generators per version... I think MCreator 3 should happen.
Basically what I mean is don't change the version format again, but instead, you could revamp how the ui looks to a more modern style or something and as soon as you open MCreator, you get asked what generators you'd like (out of the ones that work for that identified version of course.) If you opened 2023.3 or over, instead of having 2 generators, that being 1.20.1 and 1.19.4, it could be chosen, you'd get a little pop-up that says: what versions would you like to mod on? And you can change that at any time. So you get the option between Forge 1.16.5, 1.17.1, 1.18.2, 1.19.2, 1.19.4 and 1.20.1 or something like that, and then Fabric 1.16.5, 1.17.1.. etc. You can also develop Spigot plugins and maybe a new one, Bukkit or something like that. You could change between any version at any time within your mods, and bedrock support would continue but I don't think it's possible to port between them yet.
Some refrence to know what I'm trying to say.
Yes, this would be a hell of a lot to code, but it would be really cool if it happens. I've said something like this before with the generator slider but that was for every single individual version, obviously that would never be possible now that I look back on that.. and neither would this.
PS: All of these generators have already been created, just not for 2023.x, so if you could make 2023.3 the big generator version, please just port these generators into 2023.3!
It doesn't work like this. 1.12.2, 1.14.4, 1.16.5 literally can't work anymore on MCreator. 1.17.1 might work, but if it does, it'll have problems. Minecraft (and so MCreator) use Java 17 since 1.18 and Java 8 was used until 1.16.5 (Java 16 in 1.17).
And it's without mentioning the amount of work that would be required to maintain all the generators
