Switch development focus to from Forge to NeoForge?

With all the info and scandals revolving around Forge and it's owner Lex, wouldn't it make sense to switch development focus to NeoForge? I notice more and more mod devs use it instead of Forge already. From what I understand, it seems to be a drop in replacement for the most part too.

Any thoughts?
