Topic category: Collaborations and mod teams
Hello, I am looking for someone to develop an horror / SCP Themed Mod.
DISCLAIMER
If you don't know what SCP is, it means "Secure, Contain, Protect", and it is the motto and name of the SCP Foundation, a fictional organization featuring in stories created by the SCP Wiki, a wiki-based collaborative writing project.
Within the project's fictional universe, the SCP Foundation is a secret organization that is responsible for capturing, containing, and studying various paranormal, supernatural, and other mysterious phenomena (known as "anomalies" or "SCPs"), while also keeping their existence hidden from the rest of society.
What The Project Will Be Like
I plan to make a vanilla-styled and survival based mod, that will bring some of the SCP creepypastas (a good number of them, hopefully) that will generate in the world inside of containment cells built by the Foundation.
The types of creepypastas I want to add are, but not limited to:
- Monsters and other entities, with custom AIs and behaviour
- Items and blocks with special properties
- Dimensions and biomes, also with special properties
I was hoping to try to add structures with non-euclidian geometry (because some SCP creepypastas are about those), but I well understand its difficulty, so unless you're some kind of modding genius, forget about it. Otherwise, if you want a challenge, you can help me with that.
About the making of the mod, I usually get a lot of ideas, so don't worry about running out of inspiration.
Also, I like to stick to the vanilla minecraft feeling, so the content models and textures will be, when possible, inspired by pre-existing minecraft features.
Who I Need In My Team
I am looking for developers of a medium experience, since this project aims at being a bit complex.
The team would be ideally of 3-4 people, but it largely depends on how many people are interested in working on the project.
The project requires people experienced in:
- MCreator: I need experienced individuals that can create items, blocks, entities, and make pretty sophisticated procedures
-
Textures, Modeling And Animation: I need someone skilled in texturing, but most importantly, in modeling, because I'm not too good with that. About animations, I'm pretty good with those, but still, help on that side would be great.
If you think you'd fit in this project and want to help, comment on this topic. We can find a way to communicate during development, but note that I do not have Discord.
Also, if you expect compensation, there's no compensation, I'm just looking for people that want to make a mod for the pleasure of making it (but we can monetize the mod when it is published).
What do you mean by "specialize in the technical stuff"?
Coding basically, I write complex procedures
Alright, then we're really good, I can make complex procedures too, so we can "talk the same language".
Nice! I’m kind of new to Mcreator (glitch wise) so I sometimes have problems with glitches but other than that I’m pretty experienced.
Oh, don't worry, I have used a 3 year old graphics card for months, so MCreator glitches are old-time friends for me. I've seen a lot of them, and I can fix most.
Haha I used to have a computer that couldn’t open a photo without crashing. I have a much better computer now but I understand you.
when does this start? what is the plan for collaboration?
(Correct me if I’m wrong)
It starts in a couple weeks and we will use a plug-in called remote workspace to collaborate
Exactly. We can decide now how to communicate during development, if you guys want.
I mean I guess we could just use this thread because both me and AI (if you don’t mind me abbreviating your username) don’t have discord
Yeah it might be the solution, but this isn't the best platform to do it. Do you have any other idea? I was thinking about microsoft teams but I don't know if you'd agree. As a platform, it also has its problems...
I mean if there's no good alternative to discord, I can always make an account.
I can’t because of the way my google account is set up. Would GitHub work?
Yeah GitHub would be a great option. I hadn't thought about it. If ArmadilloMike has GitHub too we can use it.
