How do I make cool armor textures?

How do I make the cool armor textures, as in ones different from the three default templates (Leather, Chain, and Iron/Gold/Diamond) in Mcreator 1.7.10? I am making a Wizard mod for a youtube series but have no clue how to make cool armor. Also, Techne is not working. If those are connected, please let me know. Thanks for any help!

@#1 I don't understand...

Using paint? Im not talking about coloring the armor, I'm talking about making the structure of the armor different.  What do you mean by paint?

Sorry, I just got mixed up

Sorry, I just got mixed up with the last one. I am trying to make armor textures, as in I want to shape the helmet, chestplate etc differently than mineraft normally has it. I have no clue how to do this, or how I would make two seperate files to import so that I can make it. Anyone know how to help?

Get a program such as: Gimp

Get a program such as: Gimp/Paint.net  (I HIGHLY suggest paint.net, as it's very easy to use, and it's free!)

I have provided a download to the default minecraft armor here: https://www.mediafire.com/?to9761bn0cp62xx

you can edit it in Paint.net or Gimp, just make sure you understand how the armor is formatted.

If you are still struggling, maybe you can add me on skype or something, and i can help you out, or make the armor for you.
