is it possible to replace multiple blocks within a perimeter

hi, i am making a mod that requires a type of block to be replaced within an area (if anyone has any idea how to make this a sphere that would be helpful)and i am most definitely not writing up some spaghetti code or making an 1000 block procedure. so could anyone help (i do not mind downloading a plugin or coding) thanks
