Website making me download random HTM files.

As it says, it always downloads two different files. With random 8 symbol name combinations. The downloads always fail, and it seems to happen... Weirdly inconsistently, first two times it happened was on the 2025.2 page. Where I wrote a comment about it. Second time was in a random forum post about how to make custom armors. But there was seemingly a third time as there's 2 more files in between the first and second time. Which are listed as being on the same day as the first time, yet I don't remember those being downloaded, might've not been paying attention.

My browser is Firefox and this seems to be a recent issue, not sure why. I tried making a file try again to download and it did, it was 0 bytes big and did absolutely nothing.

Here's a list of the name of every file that was downloaded in the order that they were downloaded if that matters:

BjhrbzhU.htm
mVvNjgol.htm
C3MsnbcK.htm
RHUjQ7B5.htm
bYOSs46c.htm
w7FQ_M7O.htm
KO1b1Lw8.htm

Looked it up and apparently this is an issue that happened on other sites too, and seems to be Firefox exclusive, didn't find anything conclusive in my skim search though. And this ONLY happens with this website. I'm sure of that. Never saw it happen with any other website, so maybe something's messing with Firefox? Not sure. It's completely harmless from what I could tell, the files are fully empty, just a bit odd.

That is indeed odd. Can you try if this also happens with e.g. Chrome?

Could you also check who is referrer of those downloads in developer console of Firefox?

As for checking with Chrome, I don't have it installed and uh... Well I don't trust Google enough to download it. Probably a bit of a privacy freak but yeah. Sorry.

As for those two, nothing conclusive. Mostly hypotheticals and people saying "me too". People with tons of different extensions get them, so it doesn't seem to be related to extensions. Or at least not ONE extension if it is.

Someone did say
"It seems to be caused when resources (iframes (maybe more elements)) are still loading when clicking to another page."
But this never happened to me before and I've been using Firefox for years. And also all this stuff is years old. So... I don't know. It almost seems completely random, although it only happens on certain sites per-user? Super weird.
