Explosions not dealing damage

I know semi-recently there were some changes on how the explosion procedure block works, but I'm a little stumped. No matter what explosion source I use, none of them are dealing damage to players. They damage mobs just fine, but not players. Most of the other forum topics related are rather outdated, still referring to the break/ destroy system from before. Anyone have any clue how to circumvent it? I tried using the deal damage block and running a /damage command instead but neither of those worked either.
