Topic category: Help with Minecraft modding (Java Edition)
I want to fix the item (or change the nbt tag) of the item in the gui slot, but it doesn't work. I guess the problem is that I'm using a copy of the item, but I'm not sure how to do it any other way. Help please.

We can't see the screenshot.
When you get copy, do changes on the copy and then set the slot to the altered version using set slot.
Use local itemstack variable to store the copy while you work on it
