Trying to write code to prevent the End Crystal from damaging the Ender Dragon once it is destroyed

I've written several things about preventing the End Crystal's damage from affecting the Ender Dragon, but without any success. I tried using mixins through plugins, but they're very limited. Is there any way I can cancel that damage so the final battle is worth it?
