i get your gist about the overlay but the transforming part can only be done in java
that is unless you are not replacing the player and just adding alien armor via fidgeting with the console
but otherwise no you cant
BEN10 mod, one of the most popular mods on this website uses armor with 3d models and procedures to achieve this and it works really well
