Discussion about Spears

My first idea was to make it a throwable item that consumes itself, there's a post on user side tutorials about this

But even when I set the projectile to drop the item when it hits a block, it disappears when hitting a mob

Then I decided to make the item return to your hand as soon as you throw, so its harder to spam

But this way the item will have infinite durability

(does someone know how to store na item's durability to a variable and assign it to another item? this could solve the problem)
