Topic category: Feature requests and ideas for MCreator
The lantern (1.14), the flower pot, the cauldron, the anvil, the hopper, and many others have a custom bounding box. So why can't Mcreator do this? This would make us a step closer to custom stairs and slabs too. The integration of this idea would allow custom stairs to have custom hitboxes. This combined with another feature request I have posted: - https://mcreator.net/forum/48195/there-should-be-option-be-able-place-b… - will allow us to make custom stairs and slabs with ease!

Couldn’t agree more. I’ve actually just posted about this.
We need to make a 3D editor for custom shaped bounding boxes. Or are there any other ideas on how the interface should look like?
The Interface should be same like creating a Model with Blockbench or Tabula, Except that it don't create model but Bounding Boxes Model (or shapes) , Then in Resources Tab, We have another Category like 3D Models, Textures, Screenshots, Sounds, Which will be Bounding Boxes
then when we create a Block, You can selects the bounding Boxes we created
Is there already a Bounding Box Editor for this?
Not that I am aware of, and it will be quite a challenge to make one.
I would also love to be able to use this for my mod. What I'd love to be able to do is detect if a player is "inside" the block, for instance, if the player has entered the inside of the barrel, crush the grapes by 25%, having them jump a few times.
I'd imagine if you had a model editor, you could simply re-provide the block model, and that model would also be used as the bounding box model.
A simple 3D editor where you can make shapes and change the size of the shape with like arrows. You can add as many voxels as you want and that will be the bounding box. You should be able to overlay the model of the block on top of it or something like that.
There isn't one that I am aware of
Same except with a mob bounding box
Hmm, a nice suggestion would be to have 3 panels stating the X, Y, and, Z with text-entries on the side for all panels.
X, Z = Size of the shape
Y = Position
A great example for this is the "Cubik Studio" program interface.
I have drawn this up to help you understand.
So a player has a box, they can resize the X-Z of the box then they can position it around the block with the Y co-ord. Hope you can take some inspiration of off this!
Would it be possible to use the mesh of an obj/mtl file and use that as bounding box? If that's the case then there'd be no need for an editor.
StellaeLux: OBJ is based on verties but the bounding box is based on cubes. There is no easy mathematical transformation without loss between these two.
I know this is an older form, but I would like to say that I think https://mrcrayfish.com/tools?id=mc is a very good tool for block models for Minecraft since the topic of a modeler was brought up. I would be neat if it was already in MCreator, but I do know that you would have to get the permission of the maker first, so I was just bringing it up if anyone wanted to look at it or use it.
