You don't need to make backups like this in 1.9.0 as it backups main mod file automatically. But if you still want to, you can export workspace to ZIP file from File menu, or simply copy the workspace folder.
I do need to make backups when literally any random, unexplained, cheeky, software breaking bug can delete all of my workplaces vanishing days worth of hard work into thin air. Do tell me how to do it, please.
DO NOT COPY WORKSPACE. I tried that and it said that I needed to remake this element, on every element, I didn't delete the original workspace, but I almost did, so, be aware.

Copying a folder (workspace) can not break a workspace on a normal functional computer
