Is it possible to create a block like torches/paintings? Like be able to put on the floor and being able to go through it. And also being able to put it on walls.
there is an option when you create a block in Light,Sound and hardness wich is: Can walk through the block?. if yes you mark it

remove the transparency of the block

go into paint.net or photoshop or what ever you use and remove the white background around the trollface. then add transparency to your block.
I think what you want is a different block module. you can make models with BlockBench. Then set the "Block Rotation Mode" to "Y axis rotation (s/w/N/E)" then it would be like a painting.
