I tried really hard to make my mod alloy: the fusion, it has 200+ mod elements, there are a plot and progression, but I don't know why I can't get mod of the week. (No offense to anybody, but my mod is surely better than most mods here.)
My guess is that you have to do a lot of procedure work, animated textures and custom block and/or mob textures to get mod of the week, and it also has to be released and/or updated that week. :(
Can some pro give me some personal advice on how to win mod of the week?
No need be sad, everyone gets/will get his chance ;) Mod of the week is not chosen by me, but by Matej. I asked him and he said you did not submit it recently, we only check for MOTW from the list of submitted mods.
What is taken into consideration based on his reports mostly is originality, complexity, story, procedures, actual game logic, and mechanics have a big impact too, alongside with good models and textures, good screenshots, mod page, description, community response on the mod, download count, comments, upvotes, ...
If Matej stumbles upon this topic, he might be able to give you more insight. Keep in mind we get a lot of submissions and Matej has a VERY hard work choosing the best mod for the said week. My advice would be to keep on submitting and wait for your lucky week :)
So mod of the week has to be updated that week?
Yes, the submissions are cleared each week so the list does not grow out of control and check for submissions of the said week.
It’s very nice to know. I understand now why Farm adventure didn’t has been choose for a second MOTW (I try at least 4-5 weeks.) (When I submitted it after the 2.0.), it has already a lot of downloads, and nobody write comments, but even if it is the reason, I don’t understand because it had had the MOTW at the version 0.5.1, when there is almost nothing. I will retry, may be that I will win the MOTW.
I never played farm adventure before :(

My mod Blocks Tools Realms and Beyond! has 4500+ mod elements, and you have to go to curseforge to download the latest versions because the file is more than 20 megabytes.
when on friday (hour-minute) is motw chosen (pillage the village has been motw for 7-8 days now)
My file is more than 50, with 400 mod elements. Been submitting for a while, never got it. Probably one day though, since I have many downloads and jojo is a popular anime.
