Why was the "Is block of material type:" block removed, and is there an alternative?

Why was the "Is block of material type:" block removed, and is there an alternative?

I noticed that 2023.3's release notes have stated that the "Is block of material type" procedure block was removed and I'm curious as to why it was removed, and if I can find a replacement?

Minecraft 1.20.1 no longer has Materials as a thing, it no longer exists in the game
