I am making a mod that adds a new mob called the Spiderling, which is a tiny, cute, tameable version of a normal Spider.
I can't think up any ideas for it, but all I do know is that I don't want it to just be a reskin of the Wolf.
If anyone has any ides for the Spiderling, let me know!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Instead of teleporting to you like a dog, it will burrow out of land. If it should protect you, it shoots weak (0.5 heart) projectiles which stun for around 1.5 seconds, i cant think of feeding and taming item without adding an insect sorry.
I like the burrowing idea, but would it just be teleporting, but with an animation, or would it be something else? I also like the shooting idea, maybe they could be web balls or something? I was thinking maybe killing Silverfish would drop Silverfish, which could be a new food item for players and the breeding/taming item for Spiderlings!

Tiny little dude, he is hostile until tamed, so you have to try to tame him before he kills you, and because he is small he can fit through tiny gaps, like the gap in a stair block.
You can make a procedure which teleports him and immediatly starts burrowing anim, or something like that. You can also check block hes standing on to emit correct particles on burrow
