How do I make a weapon that gains souls which can be spent

I want to make a weapon that gains a soul after killing an entity. The  soul number is shown as an nbt tag in the description and those can then be spent on casting spells like: doubles damage for the next hit, repairs the weapon and summons a mob. Can someome make such weapon?

I think its possible but like just learn MCreator. As you said you can do that with nbt tags. Although I am not garantueed that you can display that in special info. I tried creating a block that has nbt default 0, then when broken(later switched to placed) would increase by one. And I tried to show that with special info. But in the current version there is a bug so converting nbt tag to special info idk if thats possible

I would suggest doing something simpler, for expamle making a soul whenever you kill a mob.
