Model in Blockbench gets mangled when converted

I made a model in Blockbench based on one of the prefab Entity Wizard models, meaning it was created initially as a Bedrock model. When converting to a modded entity, the model and texture map are scrambled up. Is there a way to mitigate this without remaking the entire thing as a Java model?
