Powered Elytra

Hey I've been working on a mod for a whiile now, and I had an idea, an elytra that when you press space it works like if you used a rocket, but the more I look arournd the less I know what to do, could anyone help me try to make this idea work?

Again it's basically a custom elytra but that instead of with fireworks, you just use spacebar and it works exactly like the original firework thing on the original elytras, I don't even know how to start creating the elytras in the first place so I neede a lot of help with this, also would like to change the elytra open/close animation, but that's not that important, instead of opening I would like them to extend Buzz Lightyear style when he extend his space suit wings, pressing a key to activate them or deactivate them too, but the main thing is that I need help with creating them and coding the spacebar thing, the rest is not that important
