Fruit Generation

I need help with this problem, i trying to make it so a fruit can generate similar to how coca beans generate, but without the growing,i have the model made and block and plant, but my problem is that i cant get it to generate on the sides of the logs, or with the block i cant get it to only place on logs and break when the log breaks, i am very new to this sorta thing so any thing will help!
