Block replaces block instead of being placed

So I've wanted to make a mod I'm using the 1.20.1 plugin generator and I've made a block and when I try to place it it instead it replaces the block it's supposed to be placed next to how do I fix it / what could be causing that problem

I believe you have the same problem I had when I made my first block: you have to offset the placement of your block when placed.

If you want, you can download the procedure I made to offset the block placement according to where you place it.
